Top Gun Pattern Classic 2010 - 7/12/2010

Top Gun Pattern Classic

Hosted by Mira Mar Flyers RC Club

August 28 - 29

Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced, Masters and FAI (P-11, F-11) will be flown.  Awards to 3rd place in each class.  This is an AMA sanctioned event so proof of AMA membership must be provided when registeringSportsman class is allowed to fly any AMA legal airplane. $35 for all classes except Sportsman which is $25. Lunch will be available at the field for $5.00 (includes drink). Sodas available for $1.00, water is complementary. Camping is not allowed at the field, however, you can leave a trailer there overnight if you wish. Good shade is available.

Field is open at 8:am, with pilots meeting at 9:00 – wheels up at 9:15 – field closes at 5:pm. 2 flight lines will be used with contestant judging. If we have 10 or more participants in Masters and/or Advanced, we will split the class for judging. For the last 2 rounds on Sunday, we will offer the F-11 schedule for FAI, but it is not mandatory. There could be an altitude issue if flight operations are going on at Mira Mar NAS, however, this normally doesn’t happen on the weekends – 1,000’ ceiling will be enforced in any case – more at pilots meeting. I have flown the Masters pattern for the club VP and he thinks we won’t have an altitude issue.

I don’t have a definite answer on utilizing the field on Friday for practice – stay tuned for that answer.

Motel information not available, but it would be less expensive to stay in either Poway (15 min. away), or Escondido area (30 min. away).
